The journey to mindfulness is truly the journey to reconnect with our most authentic selves. It’s a path of stillness, where we sit in silence, meditate, and reflect, as we strive to understand who we really are. What do I truly believe? Where do these beliefs come from? Do they still align with the person I am today, or is it time to shift my perspective and embrace something more true to the life I want to live?
Why did you come here? he asked.
"I came here to see vapors rising from the lake, and to share a silent, soul-deep connection with the young deer before dawn."
Why did you come here? he asked again.
"I came here to immerse myself in the silence, to absorb the peace of this place, and to feel a deep sense of contentment, gratitude, and joy."

"I came here to remind myself of the life I want to live and to gather the courage to make it simpler, truer, and more aligned with my heart."

We are all one, and we are all love. Living with the intention to appreciate what we have and to act from a place of kindness and love may sound simple, but it can be challenging—especially when things don’t go our way or when we feel disappointed by ourselves or others.
I often think back to a memory from when I was a child. I can still hear my sister and I playing, bouncing a ball against the wall. She said, “This is easy, but really, really hard.” We laughed tremendously about this as it was silly, but still made sense.
When I think about it, it’s the perfect way to describe living mindfully. Once we begin to truly see ourselves—fully, honestly and without reservation—the path ahead becomes clear. We understand where we want to go. But the real challenge, and the beauty, comes in the commitment to stay true to that vision. We’ll need to work, sometimes really, really hard, to remain aligned with the truth of who we are.
Mindfulness isn't always easy, but it is a path filled with joy, love and deeper connections. The more we embrace the simplicity of our true selves, the more we find joy, peace, and the courage to live with authenticity.
